British Values at Dan Dan's
Democracy
Here at Dan Dan’s encourage children to express their feelings, views and thoughts to enable them to understand their values and the value and values of others.
For example, children sharing views on what the theme of their role play area could be with a show of hands.
The Rules of Law
At Dan Dan’s we encourage children to learn and decipher between right from wrong, And that there are consequences for their actions.
For example, to agree the rules about tidying up and ensure that all children understand rules apply to everyone.
Individual Liberty
At Dan Dan’s we encourage children to feel positively about themselves by talking about themselves and their family and build on their self-confidence by allowing children to take risks.
For example, allowing children to take risks on an obstacle course or cutting up their own snack. We encourage children to explore language of feelings and responsibility by discussing in small groups how they feel about transitions to school.
Mutual respect for those with different faiths and beliefs and for those without faith
At Dan Dan’s we promote diverse attitudes and challenge stereotypes. For example, sharing stories that reflect and value the diversity of children’s experiences and providing resources and activities that challenge gender, cultural and racial stereotyping. For example, homemade family books.
